The short version
Plunge Craft participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Links to Amazon products on this site contain our affiliate tag (wattsage47-20). When you click one of these links and make a qualifying purchase on Amazon within 24 hours, Amazon pays us a small commission (typically 4–4.5% for the product categories we link to) at no additional cost to you.
We also display ads from Google AdSense (and at higher traffic, Mediavine). These are served based on your browsing history and are governed by Google's/Mediavine's respective privacy policies.
How Amazon affiliate links work on this site
Every Amazon product link on Plunge Craft uses the canonical /dp/ASIN?tag=wattsage47-20 format. Here's what happens when you click:
- You are redirected to the product page on Amazon.com (or your local Amazon if you're outside the US).
- Amazon sets a 24-hour cookie on your browser associating your session with our affiliate tag.
- If you add any product to your cart and check out within 24 hours, we receive a commission on the entire cart — not just the product you clicked.
- If you add a product to your cart but don't check out within 24 hours, the cookie extends to 90 days for that specific item.
- Commission is paid by Amazon from its margin — you pay the same price whether or not you use our link.
Our product selection process
We do not link to products based on commission rate. We link to products based on quality. Our 4-gate filter:
- Amazon Prime eligible — fast shipping, easy returns, removes buyer friction.
- 4.3+ star average with at least 100 ratings — social proof threshold.
- Price stability — no wild fluctuations that would suggest low demand or quality issues.
- Vetted via reviews — we read the top 1-star and 5-star reviews to identify recurring failure modes.
If a product fails any of these gates, we don't link to it — even if the commission would be higher than a competing product that passes all four.
How to identify affiliate links on this site
Affiliate links on Plunge Craft meet all of the following criteria:
- They open in a new browser tab (
target="_blank"). - They include
rel="sponsored nofollow noopener"in their HTML attributes — this tells Google and other crawlers that the link is monetized. - They use descriptive anchor text (e.g., "Inkbird ITC-308 Temperature Controller") rather than "click here."
- They typically appear as product cards with a "Check Price on Amazon →" call-to-action, or as inline text links within article body content.
FTC compliance
In accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission guidelines on the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising, Plunge Craft discloses its affiliate relationship with Amazon:
- On every article page (just below the headline, before the body content begins)
- In the site footer (visible on every page)
- On this dedicated disclosure page
The disclosure is clear, conspicuous, and placed before any affiliate content.
Editorial independence
Plunge Craft does not accept paid placements, sponsored content, or "pay-to-rank" arrangements. We do not accept free products in exchange for positive coverage (we do occasionally accept sample units for review, which are disclosed in the review itself and returned or donated after testing).
The order of products in our "best of" lists is determined by our editorial judgment, not by commission rate. A lower-commission product that performs better will rank above a higher-commission product that performs worse. Always.
Amazon Associates operating schedule
Our Amazon Associates tag is wattsage47-20. We are registered with the Amazon Associates Program operating in the United States. If you purchase from a non-US Amazon locale (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca, Amazon.de, etc.), commission may be attributed differently depending on Amazon's international linking policy at the time of purchase.
Other monetization
Beyond Amazon Associates, Plunge Craft displays contextual advertising through Google AdSense (or Mediavine at higher traffic thresholds). These ads are served based on your browsing history and are clearly labeled as "Sponsored" or "Ad." We do not control which specific ads appear on the site, and we do not endorse the products advertised.
Your privacy
Affiliate links and ad networks may set cookies on your browser. Plunge Craft itself sets only one cookie — a localStorage entry for your theme preference. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
